Addiesdive AD2050 Review – A Swiss Quartz GMT with a Bi-Directional Bezel
The Addiesdive AD2050 is one of those watches that immediately stands out on paper simply because of what it offers at the price. This is a quartz GMT powered by the Ronda 515, paired with a bi-directional bezel and a full stainless steel construction, all sitting around the $70 mark before tax. That alone makes it an interesting piece to look at. If you’re budgeting around the same sub $100 amount, there are a few noteworthy options we’ve already covered.
But what really pulled me in here is not just the specification, it is how those elements come together. There are some clear compromises, as you would expect at this level, but there are also a few features that genuinely surprise. It is a watch that feels more considered than its price might suggest.
Design & Case
The AD2050 measures 40 mm in diameter with a thickness of 13.5 mm, rising to around 14.9 mm once the Cyclops magnifier is included. The lug-to-lug length sits at 46.5 mm, which keeps the watch wearable across a wide range of wrist sizes. The 20 mm lug width tapers down to 15 mm at the clasp, giving the watch a slightly more refined profile as it sits on the wrist.

The case construction is straightforward but well executed. The lugs curve gently downward at the tips, helping the bracelet wrap naturally around the wrist. From the side, the case reveals a layered structure, with the polished flank sitting between the fluted lip of the screw-down case back below and the bezel above.

Transitions between the flank and the lugs are handled through softened bevels that maintain crisp visual definition while remaining comfortable to the touch. The lug hoods are brushed, and importantly, that brushing direction aligns with the bracelet end links, creating a seamless integration between the two. We’ve reviewed other models that capture a similar balance of function and aesthetic restraint. But if you are after a more complex and superior watch, with regards to the dial, the movement and the overall refinement you may want to check out our review of the San Martin SN0136.
Movement & Crown
Inside the AD2050 sits the Ronda 515 GMT quartz movement. This is a Swiss-made caliber that is widely used in entry to mid-level GMT watches, chosen for its durability and practicality. It provides a four-hand layout, including a dedicated 24-hour GMT hand for tracking a second time zone.

The GMT hand can be adjusted independently, making it convenient when switching between time zones. In terms of performance, the movement typically runs at around ±20 seconds per month and offers a battery life of up to 45 months.
The watch is fitted with a screw-in crown, and together with the screw-down case back, this contributes to a water resistance rating of 200 meters. The overall setup aligns with the watch’s positioning as a functional, everyday GMT with added robustness.
Bezel
The bezel on the AD2050 is a key feature of the watch. While listings may describe it differently, in practice it operates as a bi-directional bezel. What is particularly interesting is that the feel changes depending on the direction of rotation.
Turning it anticlockwise produces a slightly more deliberate ratcheting feel, while clockwise rotation is noticeably lighter. This difference allows the bezel to be used in multiple ways, either for count-up timing or as a countdown reference.

Mechanically, the bezel is well controlled. Once it lands on a detent, it locks in firmly with essentially no backplay. It cannot settle between clicks, as the spring tension pushes it cleanly into position. The rotation produces a muted but clearly audible ratcheting sound, and the notched edge provides sufficient grip for controlled operation.
Bracelet
The bracelet follows a five-link design, with brushed outer links and three polished center links. This combination introduces a bit of visual contrast and light play as the bracelet moves, complementing the polished elements of the case.
Construction is handled through push pins, which is expected at this price point. Under tension, the tolerances become more apparent, with visible gaps opening between the links when stretched. This does not affect comfort, but it does give the bracelet a slightly looser feel compared to more refined constructions.

That said, link fluidity and articulation are both good. The bracelet drapes naturally around the wrist and feels flexible in use. The clasp is a stronger point, with a fully milled, signed unit that includes five micro-adjustment positions. Inside, a milled folding wing adds a reassuring sense of solidity.
Crystal & Dial
The AD2050 uses a flat mineral crystal positioned just slightly above the bezel insert. It is treated with anti-reflective coating, and that treatment is also applied to the Cyclops magnifier. The magnification is slightly below the typical 2.5x standard, sitting closer to around 2x, which means the date does not fully fill the magnifier.

Beneath the crystal, an inward-sloping brushed rehaut adds depth and draws the eye toward the dial. The dial itself is finished in a high-gloss piano black, creating a rich reflective surface. A white printed minute track runs around the outer edge, maintaining structure and legibility.
Applied hour markers are edged in chrome, with a triangle at 12, elongated batons at 6 and 9, and circular plots elsewhere. At 3 o’clock, the date window replaces the hour marker. The hands follow a classic diver layout, also chrome edged, with a lollipop seconds hand and a red GMT hand featuring a luminous arrow tip.

In low light, the watch becomes particularly striking. The markers, hands, GMT arrow, and bezel all glow in bright blue lume. The application is even, charges quickly, and remains visible for an extended period, making it one of the strongest aspects of the watch.
Summary
The Addiesdive AD2050 delivers a compelling mix of functionality and value. The Ronda GMT movement provides practical time zone tracking, while the bezel adds versatility with its bi-directional operation and controlled action.
There are compromises, particularly with the mineral crystal and bracelet tolerances, but these are consistent with the price point. At the same time, features like the fully luminous bezel, strong lume performance, and solid case construction elevate the overall experience.

At around $70 before tax, the AD2050 stands out as a capable and visually engaging quartz GMT that offers more than expected in its segment. Readers familiar with Addiesdive will recognize many of the design cues also seen in their previous models.
