There’s something about dive watches that continues to resonate, and much of that comes down to their combination of purpose and presence. The Tandorio 62MAS homage leans heavily into that idea, presenting itself as a rugged, almost aggressive take on the vintage diver formula. From the outset, it carries a sense of weight and intent, both visually and on the wrist.

At around $90 before tax, the watch brings together a stainless steel case, a ceramic bezel insert, and a sapphire crystal. On paper, that is a familiar formula in this segment. In hand, however, the execution leans toward something more character-driven, with a distinctly brutish aesthetic that prioritizes presence over restraint.

Design & Case

On the wrist, the Tandorio immediately reads as unapologetically bold. The case measures 39.8 mm in diameter with a thickness of 13.4 mm, and an effective lug-to-lug of 47.7 mm. That shortened lug span is largely due to the use of inverted end links, which help keep the footprint contained despite the watch’s assertive stance.

The case architecture is one of its defining features. A deep C-shaped arc runs through the mid-case, paired with aggressively downturned lugs that pull the watch down onto the wrist. The lugs themselves terminate in a slightly angular form, though the edges are softened just enough to avoid feeling overly sharp. Drilled lugs reinforce the vintage tool-watch character.

Surface finishing is predominantly brushed, with a tall, flat case flank finished in horizontal brushing. Running along the length of the case is a 45-degree polished chamfer that narrows slightly through the mid-case before widening again toward the lugs. This creates a subtle sense of tension in the case geometry. Beneath the flank, the lip of the screw-down caseback remains visible, adding to the layered construction.

On the right side, the watch features an unsigned screw-down crown measuring 5.8 mm. It has a tall profile with a sandblasted finish, and the threading is deep, wide, and notably notchy, making it easy to grip and operate. Movement & Crown

Inside the watch sits the NH35 automatic movement. This is a self-winding movement with 24 jewels, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offering approximately 40 hours of power reserve. It supports hours, minutes, and sweeping seconds.

The movement is visible through an exhibition screw-down caseback fitted with a mineral crystal. Through this window, a signed rotor can be observed. The presentation is straightforward, with no attempt to elevate finishing beyond its functional purpose.

Operating the crown is a tactile experience in itself. The deep, wide threading provides a very notchy feel, which makes engagement deliberate and controlled. The size and height of the crown further contribute to its ease of use, particularly given the overall tool-oriented design of the watch.

Bezel

The bezel is one of the stronger functional elements of the Tandorio. It is a unidirectional diver’s bezel fitted with a black glossy ceramic insert, carrying a white printed 60-minute scale. The only luminous element on the bezel is the pip at 12 o’clock, while the rest of the scale remains non-luminous.

Around the edge, the bezel features deep polished notches. Despite the polished finish, grip remains excellent and there is no slipping during operation. The bezel sits without a pronounced overhang, but the spacing between the bezel and the case flank effectively creates enough clearance for easy handling. This model sits neatly alongside other Tandorio offerings we’ve reviewed, each sharing a similar approach to value and design.

In operation, the bezel exhibits a heavy and tight resistance. That resistance remains consistent throughout the entire rotation cycle. Each click engages with strong forward spring tension, and the bezel cannot settle between detents. Once in position, lateral movement is minimal, keeping the insert stable.

The sound and feel are notably distinctive, with a loud, metallic, and springy ratcheting action. Alignment at 12 o’clock is precise, with the bezel lining up cleanly without drift.

Bracelet

The watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet that uses a three-link construction with a variation in its center section. The outer links are brushed, while the center portion adopts a rice-bead style layout with polished surfaces. This introduces a contrasting light play as the wrist moves, bridging the watch’s rugged character with a slightly more decorative, vintage-leaning detail.

The bracelet measures 20 mm at the lugs and tapers down to 18 mm at the clasp. End links integrate cleanly with the case, maintaining visual cohesion once on the wrist.

Construction relies on push pins, and tolerances are best described as average. When the bracelet is extended, visible gaps between links can be observed. Link articulation is acceptable, with a reasonable degree of fluidity.

The clasp is a double-pusher security clasp with a fold-over safety lever. It includes three micro-adjustment positions. Construction is simple, with a pressed folding wing rather than a milled component, and the clasp itself is unsigned. Functionally it performs its role, though it does not match the more refined aspects of the watch.

Crystal & Dial

Up top, the watch uses a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The crystal sits approximately half a millimeter above the ceramic bezel, adding a slight sense of elevation to the profile. Beneath it, a brushed rehaut slopes downward toward the dial, creating a piped-in effect that draws the eye inward.

The rehaut is finished in black and carries a white printed minute track that remains clear and legible without crowding the dial. The dial itself features a gradient finish transitioning from bright blue at the center to near black toward the edges. Over this gradient sits a splattered paint-style texture, giving the impression of pigment radiating outward from the center.

Applied baton indices with lume centers and chrome surrounds sit cleanly on the dial surface. A framed date window maintains visual consistency with the metallic accents. The hands are also luminous, with bright green lume applied across the hour and minute hands as well as the indices. The seconds hand, however, does not feature lume.

Initial lume brightness is strong and charges quickly, though it does not sustain that intensity for extended periods. The luminous pip on the bezel provides an additional point of reference in low light.
