Cadisen C8244 Review – A Colorful Textured Dial Automatic with Boxed Sapphire
The Cadisen C8244 is one of those watches that immediately stands out for its use of color and dial texture. It arrived toward the latter end of 2025, and what drew me to it in the first place was exactly that sense of visual experimentation. Cadisen has been leaning more into colorful dials, gradients, and layered surfaces lately, and this model feels very much in line with that direction.
It also brings together several familiar elements from the brand’s recent output. There is a fully brushed stainless steel case, a boxed synthetic sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a dial with enough layering to keep the eye moving. On paper, it looked like an interesting watch to spend time with, and in hand it proves to be a watch built around texture, color, and depth rather than outright flash. Priced just under $100 before tax. Within this price range, there are a handful of compelling alternatives worth comparing.
Design & Case
The Cadisen C8244 measures 39.6 mm across, 12.2 mm thick, and 47.7 mm lug to lug. That lug-to-lug is shortened further by the use of inverted end links, which helps keep the watch wearable across a range of wrist sizes. Lug width is 20 mm, and the bracelet tapers down to 18 mm at the clasp. In practical terms, it wears with a compact footprint and a controlled profile, without feeling undersized. Seen in isolation it stands well, but comparisons help sharpen the picture.

The case itself is fully brushed stainless steel, and the brushing is consistent throughout. The flanks are horizontally brushed, and that same grain carries neatly across the downward-arching lugs, giving the side profile a layered, structured look. Beneath the case flank, the brushed lip of the screw-down caseback remains visible, adding a slight step to the profile. Up top sits a fixed brushed bezel with very little slope, creating a clean platform for the boxed and gently domed sapphire crystal. That crystal adds both a touch of distortion at angles and a bit of depth when viewed straight on.
Movement & Crown
Inside the C8244 is the Miyota 8215, a reliable entry-level Japanese self-winding automatic movement. It features 21 jewels, offers approximately 42 hours of power reserve, and displays three hands along with a date. Accuracy is rated between minus 20 and plus 40 seconds per day. It is a familiar movement in this category, and here it fits the overall character of the watch well.

At 3 o’clock, the watch uses a signed screw-down crown measuring 6 mm in diameter. The crown is brushed to match the rest of the case and feels visually integrated rather than treated as a contrasting detail. It is not oversized, but the gear-cut edge gives it enough grip to make operation straightforward. The brushing also lines up well with the case, reinforcing the sense that the finishing has been handled consistently across the exterior.
Bezel
The C8244 features a fixed brushed bezel that rises slightly to meet the boxed and gently domed sapphire crystal. That stepped relationship between bezel and crystal is subtle, but it plays an important role in defining the overall profile of the watch. Rather than drawing attention to itself, the bezel acts as a restrained visual frame for everything happening beneath the crystal.

Because the bezel remains narrow and brushed, it avoids competing with the dial. It also helps maintain the watch’s utilitarian tone, even with the more colorful and textured display below. In practice, it gives the watch a clean outer structure, letting the crystal and dial carry most of the visual interest while keeping the exterior controlled and balanced.
Bracelet
The bracelet on the C8244 leans into a straightforward, utilitarian design, though it does bring in a small visual twist. It is described as a rice-bead-style bracelet, but this is not a true five-link construction. Instead, it is a single-link build made to imitate the look of a more complex bracelet. That becomes noticeable in the hand, though visually it still creates the layered, retro-inspired texture that the design is aiming for.

The outer flanks of each link are brushed, matching the tool-oriented feel of the case, while the central polished beads introduce contrast and movement across the wrist. Construction is by push pins, which is expected at this price point, and there is no quick-release system here. Tolerances are acceptable rather than exceptional, with some give when flexed, but link articulation is smooth and the bracelet drapes naturally. The clasp is signed and uses a double-pusher deployment system with three micro-adjustment positions. Inside, there is a milled folding wing rather than a pressed one, which gives the clasp a more reassuring sense of solidity.
Crystal & Dial
This is where the Cadisen C8244 becomes most interesting. The boxed and gently domed sapphire crystal features anti-reflective coating, and in use it delivers solid clarity across most viewing angles. At the same time, the boxed edge creates a mild distortion effect around the edge of the dial. Viewed straight on, it gives the impression that the yellow inner minute ring is slightly convex, even though it sits flat beneath the rehaut. It is a small effect, but it adds visual depth in a way that suits the rest of the watch.

The inner minute track is printed in black on top of a mustard yellow ring, and beneath that sits a coarse-grain textured dial. That texture is unusually gritty, almost volcanic in its granularity, and it gives the surface a strong tactile character. The dial begins in a bright marine green near the center and darkens into a richer aqua green toward the outer edge. The gradient remains subtle enough not to overwhelm, but it keeps the dial visually active.

Applied indices mark the hours, with elongated batons at 6, 9, and 12, and square markers at the remaining positions. Each is edged in polished chrome and filled with lume. At 3 o’clock, there is a beveled chrome-framed date window that is integrated cleanly into the layout. The hour and minute hands are loomed, and the seconds hand carries a luminous lollipop tip. Lume performance is especially strong here, with bi-colored lume consisting of a blue glow on the chapter ring and green on the hands and indices. It is evenly applied, bright, and long-lasting.
Summary
The Cadisen C8244 feels like a watch built around visual texture and tonal layering rather than one relying on a single headline feature. The case remains restrained and fully brushed, the proportions are solid, and the bracelet, while simple in construction, works well enough in daily wear. What makes the watch memorable is the way the crystal, dial, and color transitions interact with one another.

The gritty dial texture, marine green to aqua gradient, mustard yellow inner ring, and bi-colored lume give it a distinct identity within the budget automatic segment. Paired with a Miyota 8215 and a boxed sapphire crystal, it offers a set of components that feel thoughtfully assembled. It remains a budget watch, but it is one that does enough visually and structurally to stand apart. Verdict
This is a good fit for the buyer who wants a budget automatic that feels more character-driven than generic. It makes the most sense for someone building out a varied collection, or for an enthusiast who already has the basics covered and wants something with a stronger visual identity for casual daily wear. The compact proportions, screw-down crown, sapphire crystal, and familiar Miyota 8215 also make it approachable for someone who values practicality alongside personality.

The trade-off is that this is not the watch for someone seeking maximum refinement, bracelet quality, or a more conservative all-rounder. The bracelet is serviceable rather than standout, the movement is dependable rather than impressive, and the dial treatment will be too specific for buyers who prefer restraint. If your priority is individuality within the budget automatic segment, it makes sense. If your priority is pure versatility, there are safer choices.
