WM Watch WM206 Review – A Stormy Diver with a Seiko Automatic Caliber

The WM Watch WM206 is one of the newer additions to the brand’s lineup, arriving toward the back end of 2025. It immediately presents itself as a substantial diver, helped by a textured blue dial, a full stainless steel construction, sapphire crystal, screw-in crown, exhibition case back, and 200 meters of water resistance. At around $180 before tax, it sits in a more serious part of the budget watch space.

What drew me to this watch first was the dial. It does not use the usual sand-style texture often seen in this segment. Instead, the surface has a more irregular, sea-like character, giving the watch a stronger visual identity. We’ve covered several WM Watches before, and this one continues the brand’s established design language.

    Design & Case

The WM206 measures 41 mm in diameter, 12 mm thick, or 13.3 mm including the Cyclops. Lug width is 20 mm, while the effective lug-to-lug length comes in at 52.4 mm due to protruding male end links.

That number sounds long on paper, but the case geometry helps manage it. The lugs hook downward quite decisively, allowing the bracelet to drape more naturally around the wrist. On my 6.5-inch wrist, there is no overhang, and the watch sits better than the measurement might suggest.

The midcase is tall and vertically brushed, with a fairly slab-sided profile. Transitions between the brushed flanks and lug hoods are handled by polished 45-degree chamfers, adding definition and structure. Beneath the flank, the polished lip of the screw-down exhibition case back is visible, while above it sits the wide polished edge of the bezel, reinforcing the layered case profile.

    Movement & Crown

Inside the WM206 is the Seiko NH35 automatic movement. It is a Japanese self-winding caliber with 24 jewels, 42 hours of power reserve, and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, giving the seconds hand a six-tick-per-second sweep.

The crown is signed, screw-in, and measures 6.8 mm across. It sits between crown guards and uses a wide, sleeved profile. The size is generous, which helps usability, although the threading itself is not especially notchy.

A little more bite in the crown texture would have improved the tactile feel. As it stands, it works well enough, but the polished and less aggressive grip pattern makes operation slightly less tactile than it could be.

    Bezel

The WM206 uses a 120-click unidirectional bezel with a heat-cured paint inlay rather than ceramic. The insert has a two-tone layout, with a sky blue first 15-minute section transitioning into navy blue for the remaining 45 minutes.

The bezel sits slightly proud of the midcase, creating a small functional ledge. In theory, that overhang helps with grip, though the polished edge knurling is not as assertive as it could be. A deeper, sharper coin profile would have improved traction.

In operation, the bezel is tight and carries noticeable indexing torque. The sound is muted and dampened rather than loud or metallic. Resistance remains consistent through the full rotation cycle, and there is no backplay or lateral wobble once seated.

The luminous pip at 12 aligns cleanly with the dial orientation marker. The silver embossed numerals and minute markings add slight relief to the insert, giving the bezel a more dimensional, tool-oriented look.

    Bracelet

The bracelet measures 20 mm at the case and tapers to 18 mm at the clasp. Visually, it feels broader than the number suggests because of the substantial case and protruding male end links.

Integration with the case is nearly seamless. The brushing direction on the outer links mirrors the brushing on the lug hoods, helping the bracelet flow naturally out of the watch head.

This is a five-link bracelet. The outermost and central links are brushed, while the two intermediate links are polished. That alternating finish adds light play without pushing the watch into a dressier direction.

Construction uses push pins rather than screw pins. At around $140 before tax, screw pins would have been welcome. Tolerances are fair rather than exceptional, but link articulation is genuinely good. The clasp is fully milled and signed, with six micro-adjustment positions and a milled folding wing inside.

    Crystal & Dial

The WM206 uses a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. It sits just slightly above the bezel, keeping the profile tight and controlled.

The Cyclops is a notable strength. It is positioned accurately over the date window, with no visible misalignment, and the magnification is strong, close to the traditional 2.5x style. The Cyclops itself is also sapphire, which matters because it protrudes above the main crystal and is more exposed to contact.

Beneath the crystal, a straight downward rehaut guides the eye into a dark navy blue dial. The surface is mostly matte but textured, with a subtle ripple effect that resembles calm water under soft light. In person, it catches reflections in a way that makes it feel more alive than a flat dial.

The hour markers are applied batons, with the date window at 3 o’clock. A half baton remains beside the date, preserving visual balance and lume continuity. The indices and bezel pip glow bright blue, and the arrow-style hands carry lume through their inner sections rather than the tips.

The applied chrome WM logo sits below 12, while “Automatic” and “200 meters” are printed above 6. The seconds hand is unlumed but finished with a yellow anchor tip, adding a small maritime detail. This piece shares its personality with diver watches that emphasize dial texture, you may wish to explore a collection of 10 diver watches under $100 some of which offer similar experiences at a lower price point.

    Summary

The WM Watch WM206 is a substantial, visually engaging diver with a clear focus on texture, lume, and practical specification. Its case has presence, but the downturned lugs help manage the longer effective span on the wrist.

The dial is the highlight. Its navy ripple texture, sapphire Cyclops, bright blue lume, and yellow anchor seconds hand give the watch personality without making it feel overdesigned.

There are compromises, particularly the push-pin bracelet and the bezel grip, but the overall package remains strong. At around $180 before tax, the WM206 offers a well-built and distinctive diver with more character than the average budget option. This watch competes directly with others in a similar pricing bracket, each offering its own strengths.
