The Pagani Design PD1784 has a wide, planted stance on the wrist, helped by the blue ceramic bezel, deep sunburst blue dial, and orange GMT hand cutting across the center. The orange fourth hand gives the watch much of its personality, standing out clearly against the surrounding blue and steel.

The case measures 40mm in diameter and 14mm thick. That is not especially thin, although a lot of the height comes from the heavily domed sapphire crystal sitting above the dial.

The lug-to-lug length is 48.2mm, and the inverted end links help keep the fit controlled. Lug width is a standard 20mm, while the bracelet tapers down to 18mm at the clasp.

From the side, the case architecture has more going on than expected. The flank is horizontally brushed, tall, and slab-sided, but there is also a slight curve through the midcase, so it does not feel completely flat or blocky.

A polished 45-degree bevel leads into the brushed lug hoods, giving the case lines more definition and creating useful contrast between brushed and polished surfaces. The combination of textures, materials, and proportions creates a character shared by several similarly styled GMT models.

Movement & Crown

Inside the PD1784 is the Chinese Pearl 5833 automatic GMT movement. It runs at 3Hz, or 21,600 vibrations per hour, which means six beats per second.

This is very much a budget automatic GMT caliber, and it is usually found in watches under the $150 mark. It is not a premium movement, but it is not obscure either. It has now appeared widely enough in this segment to feel familiar and reasonably serviceable.

The movement gives the PD1784 its automatic GMT layout, with the orange GMT hand reaching out toward the external 24-hour bezel. That combination gives the watch a proper dual-time identity rather than simply borrowing the look.

On the right-hand side, there is a signed screw-in crown measuring 6.4mm across. It sits neatly within the case profile and feels appropriate for the watch’s sporty GMT layout.

The screw-in crown adds to the overall practical specification, though the review does not state a water resistance rating for this watch.

Bezel

The bezel is the strongest part of the PD1784. It is a 120-click unidirectional bezel with a glossy blue ceramic insert and a white 24-hour GMT scale etched into the surface.

The outer ridge is fully brushed, and while there is no real overhang above the case flank, grip is still very easy. The bezel edge is tall, the scalloping is deep, and the brushed surface gives the fingers enough texture to control rotation without slipping.

The action is much better than expected at this price. Resistance is properly heavy and even across the full rotation cycle, with no hollow spots or dead sections. As it rotates, the bezel gives a clear ratchety metal-on-metal click profile.

Each detent feels mechanically defined. Once the bezel lands in position, there is no backplay and no lateral shift at the detent. There is also enough spring tension to pull the bezel cleanly into the next click, so it cannot really land between positions.

Alignment at 12 is spot on, and the bezel is fully luminous. The bezel glows green, while the dial furniture glows blue. If this particular execution works for you, there’s a good chance other Pagani Design models will also be worth a look.

Bracelet

The bracelet is where the PD1784 starts to show its budget positioning more clearly. From the front, the watch can look more premium than the price suggests, but the bracelet hardware brings things back to earth.

The bracelet uses an interesting three-link design. Most of the surfaces are brushed, but the outer shoulders of the central links have polished raised ridges. That gives the bracelet a little more visual complexity and helps it avoid looking too basic.

The actual feel is less convincing. The tolerances are not especially tight, and when handled, there is noticeable movement through the bracelet structure. Once stretched or flexed, visible gaps open between the links.

The clasp is also a weak point. It is a pressed clasp with a double-pusher release and a secure latch. It is signed with the Pagani Design logo, but visually it does look cheap.

To be fair, when opened, there is a milled folding wing inside, so it is not completely basic internally. Flip the watch over, and the rear uses an exhibition caseback with a mineral crystal display window.

Crystal & Dial

The dial is one of the most appealing parts of the PD1784. Beneath the domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, the watch uses a deep sunburst blue dial that feels fresh, rich, and surprisingly well layered.

The minute chapter ring does not sit flat on the main dial. It sits on a raised step above the central surface, then flows visually into the brushed rehaut. That gives the front of the watch more depth and makes the dial feel more constructed.

The main dial has a strong sunburst effect, and the blue tone catches light actively. Against that surface, the applied Arabic numerals are edged in chrome and filled with central lume plots.

The baton-style hands are properly long, with the minute hand reaching right out toward the edge of the dial. That helps legibility and makes the handset feel more deliberate.

The orange GMT hand has an arrow-lollipop tip and reaches toward the 24-hour bezel. That orange accent also links neatly with the GMT text printed above 6.

In the dark, the watch looks strong at first. The dial furniture glows blue, including the numerals, hands, and lollipop sections, while the bezel glows green. Over time, the bezel lume fades quite quickly, although the triangle at 12 holds on better than the rest of the scale.

Summary

The Pagani Design PD1784 is a watch of contrasts. On the positive side, the bezel action is genuinely impressive, with heavy resistance, clean indexing, no backplay, no lateral shift, and a fully luminous ceramic insert.

The dial also works well. The blue sunburst finish, raised chapter ring, brushed rehaut, applied numerals, long hands, and orange GMT hand give the watch a strong visual identity.

The shortcuts are clear in the bracelet and clasp. The bracelet has visible movement and gaps when flexed, while the pressed clasp looks cheaper than the rest of the watch suggests.

Still, at around $100, the PD1784 delivers a stainless steel automatic GMT with a domed sapphire crystal, screw-in crown, ceramic bezel, strong dial execution, and one of the better Pagani bezel actions I have handled.
