San Martin SN0148-GB Review – Original Design Enamel Vortex Dial
The San Martin SN0148-GB is the updated version of the SN0148, now built around an integrated stainless steel bracelet and a vortex textured enamel dial. It is still a sporty automatic diver, but the case and bracelet architecture give it a broader, more planted wrist presence than a standard round-case diver.
The dial is the immediate pull here. Between the domed sapphire crystal, fully luminous ceramic bezel, Miyota 9015 movement, and San Martin’s usual case finishing, this feels like one of those watches where the visual drama and the mechanical execution are both part of the appeal. Priced just sub $400 before tax pushes it toward the higher end of affordable Chinese microbrands. At roughly this sub $500 level of spend, buyers are spoiled for choice, with several strong competitors available.
Design & Case
The San Martin SN0148-GB measures 40mm in diameter, 11.6mm thick, and 47.6mm lug-to-lug. That lug-to-lug is important because, despite the integrated bracelet design, the end links remain inverted. The bracelet drops naturally from the case instead of projecting straight outward.

From the side, the case has a wide, flat, horizontally brushed flank running across the full length of the watch. At the ends, the case angles downward, helping the integrated bracelet hook around the wrist rather than sit flat and slab-like.
Between the brushed flank and brushed lug hoods, a polished 45-degree bevel runs with consistent width from the midcase toward the lug tips. This is where San Martin’s finishing comes through: sharp brushing, clean polished edge work, and clear separation between surfaces.

The bezel sits slightly recessed into the case profile, making the watch feel more compact and integrated. If the character of this watch appeals to you, there are other diver watches with a similar design ethos worth exploring.
Movement & Crown
Inside the San Martin SN0148-GB is the Miyota 9015 self-winding automatic movement. This is a high-beat Japanese automatic caliber running at 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4Hz. The movement has 24 jewels, hacking, hand-winding, quick-set date, and around 42 hours of power reserve. Accuracy is rated at minus 10 to plus 30 seconds per day.

On the right-hand side is a signed screw-in crown measuring 5.9mm across. It suits the case scale and supports the diver-style construction of the watch.

The exhibition caseback gives a view of the Miyota 9015 underneath. The script does not describe decorative finishing on the movement, so the important point here is the visible automatic caliber rather than any added claim about decoration. Bezel
The bezel is a 120-click unidirectional setup with a tall coin-edge grip and deep, sharply cut notches. It does not really overhang the case, because it sits slightly recessed into the case profile.

Normally, that could make grip more difficult, but the coin-edge cutting is deep enough to give plenty of purchase. It is still easy to grab and rotate. The action itself is excellent. Resistance sits on the heavier side, but it remains even across the full rotation cycle, with no hollow spots, soft patches, or uneven tension.

The click-spring preload feels well judged. The bezel cannot land between clicks, and once it lands, it locks in firmly. There is no backplay, and the sound has a precise, slightly damped ratchet quality. The polished blue ceramic bezel insert carries a printed 60-minute scale, and the full scale is luminous.
Bracelet
The San Martin SN0148-GB uses an integrated-style five-link stainless steel bracelet. It measures 24mm at the case integration point and tapers down to 18mm at the clasp, so the head of the watch feels broad and planted without making the clasp end feel too blocky.

All the links are brushed, but each link also has a polished bevel along the edges. That makes the bracelet smooth to the touch while adding controlled light play between brushed surfaces and polished highlights.
Construction is strong. This is a screw-pin bracelet, and it feels very solid with minimal rattle or shake for a five-link setup. Tolerances are good, and link fluidity and articulation are excellent.

The clasp is also properly done, with milled construction, a hexagonal San Martin logo, double-pusher release, milled folding wing, and on-the-fly adjustment offering around half an inch of extra sizing.
Crystal & Dial
The dial is the reason this version exists. Above it sits a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, rising out of the bezel in a way that guides the eye down into the dial.
Underneath is the vortex textured enamel dial. This is not just a printed swirl effect. The texture follows the direction of the vortex, so the surface itself appears to twist around the pinions, giving the dial movement, depth, and an almost liquid pull toward the center.

The color transition adds to that effect. Around the pinions, the tone is yellowish aqua green, moving into brighter aqua blue through the middle before darkening into deeper blue toward the outer edge.
The applied markers are chrome-edged, with a triangle at 12, rectangular markers at 6 and 9, and circular plots elsewhere. At 3, the date window replaces the marker, but it gets a chrome-edged frame and a color-matched date wheel.

The hands are chromed with white lume plots, while the seconds hand uses a rectangular lollipop-style marker. In darkness, the lume is bright blue across the hands, indices, and full 60-minute bezel scale.
Summary
The San Martin SN0148-GB works because it brings together two different strengths: the structural refinement of San Martin case and bracelet work, and a dial that gives the watch a much more distinctive identity.
The integrated bracelet setup gives the watch a broad, planted stance, but the inverted end links and 47.6mm lug-to-lug help keep it wearable. The case finishing is crisp, with brushed planes, polished bevels, and a recessed bezel profile that makes the whole watch feel more integrated.

The vortex enamel dial is the standout feature. Its twisting texture, aqua-to-blue gradient, color-matched date wheel, domed sapphire crystal, and bright blue lume give the watch its visual drama. Add the Miyota 9015, screw-in crown, exhibition caseback, screw-pin bracelet, and excellent bezel action, and the SN0148-GB feels like a strong update to the original model. We’ve covered several San Martin watches before, and this one continues the brand’s established design language.
