The HeroForce HF5056 GMT is one of those watches where the price frames the entire review. At around $25, it promises a lot from a distance: a quartz GMT layout, date window, external 24-hour bezel, textured dial, sweep-style seconds hand, and a colourful design that looks far more ambitious than the price suggests. The strengths of this piece become easier to understand when placed against competing alternatives in the sub $50 price bracket.

But this is also a watch that needs some unpacking. The listing suggests sapphire crystal, but this example has mineral crystal. The dial also does not match the more dramatic render-style imagery. Design & Case

The HeroForce HF5056 is a budget quartz GMT watch with a case that keeps things mostly simple. It measures 41.4mm in diameter, 11.4mm thick, and 54.8mm lug-to-lug because of the protruding male end links. The lug width is 22mm, while the bracelet tapers down to 20mm at the clasp.

That lug-to-lug measurement is the important number here. On paper, 41.4mm sounds manageable, but the male end links stretch the effective length considerably, so the watch will wear longer than the case diameter alone suggests.

The case itself is alloy and mostly brushed. The horizontally brushed flanks give it a fairly consistent surface finish, although the transitions are not especially crisp. The lines are a little smudged, but for this ultra-budget category, the finishing is at least coherent.

Based on the price point and layout, this appears to be a basic domestic Chinese quartz GMT setup. One likely possibility would be something from the Sunon PE series or a similar affordable multi-function quartz platform. Another possibility is an unbranded domestic Chinese quartz plate based around older Miyota-style architecture, modified with an additional 24-hour wheel.

I would not state either as fact. What I can say is that the watch gives us a real quartz GMT function, a date window, and a sweep-style seconds hand with four pulses per second.

That sweep-style motion is one of the more pleasant surprises. At this price, it gives the dial a smoother visual rhythm than a standard one-tick-per-second quartz watch.

The crown is signed and push-pull. Together with the snap-on caseback, it supports only 30 meters of water resistance, so I would treat this as a splashproof watch. Visually, HeroForce is trying to create the look of a more expensive three-link bracelet. The outer shoulders are brushed, while the raised central sections are polished. At a glance, that gives the bracelet some contrast and light play.

The downside is that those polished center elements sit proud of the bracelet. They are likely to make contact with desks, tables, and other surfaces during daily wear, so they will probably pick up scratches fairly quickly.

The tolerances are very mediocre. Considering this is a one-link bracelet rather than a proper multi-link construction, I would have expected it to feel a little tighter.

Link fluidity is okay, but the bracelet is rattly and not especially refined. The clasp is functional but very rudimentary, with a pressed construction, single push release, no micro-adjustment positions, and a pressed wing inside.

Crystal & Dial

The crystal is mineral, not sapphire, even though the listing suggests otherwise. It is flat and appears to have some anti-reflective coating, but the material is one of the key corrections worth making clear.

Below that flat mineral crystal, the eye is led inward by a colour-matched rehaut. On this turquoise version, the rehaut is matte aqua blue, with the minute chaptering printed on top. The rehaut appears to follow the dial colour depending on the variant chosen.

The dial itself has a textured, sand-like surface. It is not as irregular, deep, or artistic as the San Martin-style textures shown in the renders, but there is still genuine patterning here. The groove-like texture creates small micro shadows and light movement as the watch shifts.

Applied baton markers sit across the dial with central lume plots. At 3, there is a date window with a small aqua green frame rather than a chrome edge. The date wheel is a good size, easy enough to read, and not set too deeply.

The lume is the biggest positive surprise. It charges quickly and glows bright green across the main hands and markers.
