Agelocer Major Breakthrough Moonphase Review – A Theatrical 29.51 Days Moonphase With Atmospheric Depth
The Agelocer Major Breakthrough Moonphase is the kind of watch I would describe with two words: theatrical and atmospheric. It does not rely on loud finishing or obvious bling to feel refined. Instead, the whole watch is built around mood, texture, and the large panoramic moonphase display at the center of the design.
This is an original design, and that matters here. The case, crystal, dial layout, strap, and movement all seem to orbit the same idea: creating a moonphase watch that feels layered, quiet, and visually immersive rather than simply decorative.
Design & Case
The case measures 40mm in diameter, 12mm thick, and 45.7mm lug-to-lug, with a standard 20mm lug width. On paper, those are controlled proportions, but the watch has more presence than the numbers alone suggest because the dial is so visually open.

From the top, the watch has an almost bezelless appearance. The slightly domed sapphire crystal rises cleanly from the case, leaving only a narrow polished surround. That approach makes sense here because the watch needs visual space. The large moonphase display is the main event, and the case does not crowd it.
The side profile is more layered than the front view suggests. The flank is mostly horizontally brushed, while the lug hoods are vertically brushed. Between those surfaces is a polished 45-degree bevel, adding definition without making the case feel overly bright.

The lugs are short and aggressively downturned, almost appearing like separate architectural elements attached to the round midcase. Under the brushed flank, another polished bevel leads toward the polished lip of the exhibition caseback, giving the side of the watch a more constructed, multi-layered profile. Those drawn to this aesthetic may also appreciate other refined dress watches we reviewed.
Movement & Crown
The movement is a central part of the story. And more specifically it is the A4610 automatic caliber, based on the Hangzhou 7200 architecture. I would not describe it as completely in-house from scratch, but it has clearly been developed and upgraded for this moonphase execution.

The specifications are strong. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, making it a high-beat 4Hz movement. It has 27 jewels, an upgraded 80-hour power reserve, and an accuracy rating of plus 20 to minus 10 seconds per day.
The movement also uses a bidirectional magic lever-style winding system. Through the exhibition caseback, there is a lot to look at: rhodium plating, polished edges, brushed surfaces, sunburst finishing, golden engraved lettering, blue screws, and polished screw heads.

The crown is a signed push-pull crown measuring 6.4mm across. It sits cleanly within the overall case shape and matches the more contemporary, fluid profile of the watch.
Bezel
The front of the watch is shaped around an almost bezelless presentation rather than a traditional separate bezel. The narrow polished surround gives the sapphire crystal room to dominate the top of the case, and the crystal then opens directly into the dial.

That choice is important to the character of the watch. A wider bezel would have reduced the visual width of the moonphase display, while this cleaner frame allows the dial to feel broad and open.

The polished surround also works with the rest of the case finishing. It links visually to the polished bevels and caseback lip, while the brushed flanks and lug hoods keep the case from becoming fully reflective.
Strap
The strap is one of the strongest parts of the watch’s overall presentation. It is a premium Italian leather strap finished in gray suede, with a crocodile-style pattern pressed into the surface. The leather is water dyed, cushioned, and very soft to the touch, almost velvety across the outer surface.

It does not have the glossy formal look of standard dress leather. The texture is quieter, warmer, and more intimate, and that works well with the gray layered moonphase dial. The muted suede finish complements the grainy dial texture, soft gradient, and lunar theme.
Flip the strap over and there is a saturated orange underside, adding a hidden flash of warmth. One side carries the Agelocer logo, while the other is branded “Agelocer original.” It also uses a quick-release system, and the polished milled buckle is signed with the brand logo.

The full strap package feels considered. It is soft, elegant, proprietary, and closely tied to the design language of the watch rather than feeling like an afterthought.
Crystal & Dial
Under the domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, the dial is built almost like a small lunar landscape. The base is a gray layered textured dial with a coarse, grainy surface. It is not flat or sterile; it has a mineral, moondust-like texture.
The tone shifts from lighter gray near the center to a deeper, more shadowed gray toward the edge. That slight gradient helps separate the layers and gives the dial its atmosphere. Around the outside is an applied chrome minute chapter, giving the display a raised architectural frame.

The applied chrome triangular baton markers sit on that outer track, keeping the hour references clear while leaving the dial open. Moving inward, a smaller off-center circular layer surrounds the pinion area, stopping the layout from feeling static and helping the eye follow the arc of the moonphase display.
The oversized panoramic moonphase is the center of the watch. This is not a tiny moon tucked into a small aperture. It is a large sculptural moon with cratered texture, shading, and surface detail, moving across the dial like a moon passing through a gray sky.

The chromed hands are ornate, but they remain readable against the grain and layered gray textures. Dial text is restrained, with “Agelocer Original” above 6 and “Moonphase” printed subtly at the bottom inside the minute track.
In the dark, only the moon itself is lumed. It glows in a bright blue tone, and the crater and shadow patterning remain visible, so the moon does not turn into a simple glowing disc.
Summary
The Agelocer Major Breakthrough Moonphase is built around atmosphere rather than excess. The large panoramic moonphase display, gray textured dial, domed sapphire crystal, and muted suede strap all push the watch toward the same theatrical, lunar character.

The movement gives the watch much of its technical substance. The A4610 automatic caliber, based on the Hangzhou 7200 architecture, brings a 4Hz beat rate, 27 jewels, an 80-hour power reserve, and a decorated exhibition view through the mineral crystal caseback.

At over $500 before tax, this is not positioned like a typical budget automatic. The appeal here is the combination of original design, a developed moonphase movement, layered case finishing, and a dial that feels more like a scene than a standard display. This sits within one of the most competitive sub $500 price brackets in the current watch landscape.
